“Inequality that exists in our country is immoral”
This morning, I was going thru my Tumblr Dashboard and I saw Steve Boyd’s reblog the Ben & Jerry’s letter regarding the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Go read the whole thing.
The line, “The inequity that exists between classes in our country is simply immoral” is the one that hits me the hardest.
It’s the message I was trying to convey here and here. But the Ben & Jerry’s board said it much better than I did.
This is something that my wife and I talk about all the time. We try to help out as best as we can but we clearly feel like we aren’t doing enough.
It’s time to support this movement and push for real reform. Our country will be a better place.
To what extent are people poor because others are rich? Those at the top tipping the scales: what would need to change not just so that they are less rich but also that others are richer?
I feel pretty fundamentally that my wealth didn’t come from others not getting it. What changes can we make so that I am not punished for my behavior?
